Governance

The Africa Progress Panel recognizes the tremendous importance and impact governance -as a development issue- has in the region. There are many challenges in this area: from measuring progress at national levels to addressing the shortfalls of regional and international governance structures. The Africa Progress Panel is aiming to put the spotlight on them.

Panel Member Peter Eigen has a long tradition in championing governance issues and has taken the lead in the Africa Progress Panel’s efforts to raise awareness and encourage key stakeholders to address the main challenges in this area, most notably transparency and corruption. In May 2010, a workshop to discuss the key dimensions of governance in Africa or impacting on Africa was organized in Berlin.
